It’s almost like Sherlock isn’t using her as a ‘replacement John’, because he fucking says he isn’t right here. 

The thing is, I can almost see why people claim she’s just a replacement for John, because I’ve found a lot of parallels between John and Molly. But I think that’s just supposed to emphasize the fact that Sherlock clearly has a type when it comes to people he cares about. I’d say that John and Molly are the closest to Sherlock, so in a way, it makes sense for them to share qualities.

But it’s also pretty fucking obvious that he point blank says “you’re not John; you’re Molly and I want Molly out on these cases with me today.”

I can’t help but feel like Moffat put that in there on purpose. She’s not a replacement for John AND she matters most. Those aren’t throw away lines. And he shares those feelings more easily with her than he does with John.
